Bee News Monthly Presentation

Cherokee Bee Club Monthly Meeting THIS WEEK!- Speaker Josh Fuder – Planting for the Bees! Time: Thursday, Feb 18, 2021 07:00 PM – DON’T MISS IT! Members will receive a link via email!

To all Cherokee Beekeepers Club members:

It is the 14th of February and the bees have been bringing a little pollen into the hives during the warmer days. The colonies are starting to cycle up the brood. It’s just that there are not enough dry days with temps above 50 degrees and with warm sunshine. Under these conditions with an increasing brood volume and full sun, the bees will fly. Red maple is due but with our rain, the bees may not get much benefit if they can’t fly. You can help your hives by providing pollen substitute and probiotics inside the hives. Also, make sure to verify that your bees have enough honey/syrup to sustain them until spring arrives. If you have stores in your supers, you may want to swap them from the top to the below the brood chamber so they can more easily clean them out and bring the food into the cluster.

Our regular meeting will be at 7:00pm on Thursday, February 18th. The speaker will be Josh Fuder – club member, beekeeper, and our Agriculture and Natural Resources UGA Extension Agent. If you would like to know what annuals and perennials to plant for the bees-this meeting will be of great interest. If you would like to attend the meeting, JOIN NOW!
